Ready for spring? We are! But if you need to get your house ready for the warm season, we’ve got a few tips for you. Spruce up your home with some easy tips to clean those tough to reach or tough to clean places that may get overlooked a little too often. Happy spring cleaning!
1. Clean off the shower head with vinegar.
Cleaning out each spout of your shower head sounds tedious, but it doesn’t have to be. Fill a small plastic bag with white vinegar and use a rubber band to attach it to your shower head. Leave it overnight and the vinegar will soak in and clean out your spouts. You may find that your shower head has more power than you realized when it’s all clean!
2. Use turntables to organize your fridge and cabinets.
Make reaching items in your cabinets and fridge much easier with a turntable. No need to reach back behind all these items, knocking them over, feel around for what you’re looking for. When you’re organized with a turntable, you can get the items that you need with a flick of the wrist.
3. Be careful with your upholstery.
Upholstery can be tricky to clean. There is likely a cleaning label somewhere on the upholstery—follow those directions. You may need to use water-based cleaning solutions, dry cleaning solvents with no water, a vacuum or brush, whatever it is—it will differ based on the material and type of upholstery.
4. Clean air vents with table knives.
Getting those tight to reach places can be tricky. Cleaner air vents means cleaner air. Use a butter knife with a rag wrapped around it to clean out those vents.
5. Get those hard to reach places with a broom and rag.
If you can’t reach corners, tops of bookshelves, and other nooks and crannies, try placing a rag over a bloom to create your own tool to reach those tough to reach places.
6. Clean out your garbage disposal with citrus.
Placing a lemon, orange, or lime, in your disposal and running it can work miracles. It’ll clean your sink and make your kitchen smell amazing.
7. Run baking soda or vinegar through your dishwasher to revamp it.
Do you even think to clean out your dishwasher? Running it once in while without dishes and some vinegar and baking soda will clean it out thoroughly.
8. Wipe down your windows with vinegar.
Can’t be spring cleaning without cleaning those windows. Using a natural agent like vinegar will provide a streak-free shine and thoroughly clean.
9. Use tongs and rags to quickly clean blinds.
Place rags over your tongs and quickly wipe through your blinds. Blinds can easily collect dust and cleaning them off can be so satisfying.
10. Put rags under furniture to avoid scratching your floors.
When cleaning, you’ll likely be moving your furniture around. To avoid getting scratches on your floor, place rags under your furniture.
